Geraldine Padilla Matamoros
MA Fine Art
Geraldine studied architecture in Mexico, Italy, and India, focusing on vernacular and low-impact building techniques. She has worked in architecture firms in both the public and private sectors, ranging from accessibility projects to high-end interior design.
To better understand the human condition, environment, and social interactions, she completed a Master’s in Social Anthropology, conducting research on interactions between sheep and women within the Chamula indigenous group in Chamula, Chiapas, Mexico.
She has followed sheep in New Zealand, Iceland, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Since 2014, she has found herself expressing through threads. She’s interested in weaving together history, geographies, everyday women’s stories, and textiles. With her final projects at Norwich University of the Arts, Geraldine goes beyond textiles and has begun exploring textile expression through bronze and video.
