I am an artist working with textiles, video, sculpture and print through my entanglement with materials and processes. My practice stitches together textile techniques, such as embroidery and soft sculpture, with video and installation.
My work Uncertainty: Being Textile is an installation comprising of two video projections folded around a collection of sculptural elements and communicates my experiences and feelings of uncertainty as a postmenopausal woman, a mother with an empty nest and an artist.
Using an endoscope camera to explore within a textile environment, offers a fresh approach to working with textiles, revealing both the outside and inside of a work. Textiles are central to my practice and working with intaglio print techniques I am able to consider textiles in another way.
This multidisciplinary approach enables me to investigate themes of identity, transition, ageing and being human, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experience of uncertainty and change.
