BA Interior Design
As an award-winning (INT Design awards 2024) Spatial Designer, graduating BA (Hons) Interior Design, I am fascinated with the changing world around me and how I can help society navigate its needs.
During Year 3, I coined the methodology of “Form Follows Occupation” (FFO) in my research report, which expands the design boundaries of “Form Follows Function”. I used this to produce up-to-date design solutions that meet the needs of the present and future occupations of society. To do this I used the FFO process of collecting design input data (occupation needs) to formulate a new design output (solution) within the canvas of a once-functional space.
This resulted in the reuse of the obsolete Penallta Colliery site for an Enhancement Centre that provided for the speculated increasing time spent in poor health of the population of over 65s to promote the methodology of FFO.
I aspire to continue practising FFO within the architectural sector, focusing on reuse and human-centred solutions.
