Lavrentios Michailidis
BA Photography
For me, photography is more than a simple medium. It is a way to look into a human soul and understand its torture or bliss. Photography became an essential part of my life after moving to the UK in 2013. Dealing with health matters, photography became a means of escape and sharing my thoughts and stories when words were not enough. My current photographic practice sees an amalgamation of Fine Art, Fashion, and Portraiture, combining historical influences and exploring the elegant forms that light can create. These forms build powerful narratives, whether dark or light. My latest project, Golden Age, draws inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelite period, focusing on the female form. This project aims to bring this dominant element in paintings under a different light, making it more powerful and prominent, revealing aspects of its nature unseen until much later in time.
