Maisy Aykroyd
BA Fine Art
Maisy Aykroyd is a botanical artist based in Norwich/Cambridge. Her work explores emotive themes such as love, grief, commemoration, and personal heritage. Engaging with these enduring subjects has shaped her creative practice and career aspirations within the cultural and heritage sector. Collaborations with institutions like the Sainsbury Centre and John Innes Centre have been key in consolidating these interests.
Influenced by the Japanese practice of Ikebana, Aykroyd combines her passion for flower arranging, history, photography, and printmaking to create intricate, detail-rich imagery. Her work draws upon both personal and external cultural narratives, aiming to honour those who came before her in respectful, thoughtful ways.
For Aykroyd, making is a cathartic process – a spiritual means of connecting with lost loved ones through shared reverence for nature. Her practice invites quiet reflection, offering an intimate space for transient reflection, healing, and growth.
