Molly de Smith
BA Textile Design
Molly is a textile print designer who creates bold and impactful designs for a range of applications. Through vibrant and contrasting colour combinations, Molly’s graduate collection ‘Maximal Modernism’ emphasises Queer joy and the playfulness of identity.
The dramatic scale contrasts of the screen-printed geometric modernist motifs create a maximal collection of designs which are intended to wrap all surfaces, including yourself, in pattern to create an enveloping and immersive environment.
This project led Molly to win the Image and Pattern Award at the Textile Design Industry Awards, presented by Chris Cordingly (Creative Consultant of Art Angels Publishing).
Additionally, Molly has been an engaged student representative and as a result has gained the Studentship Award at the Textile Design Industry Awards and won the Student Rep of the Year Award for Fashion and Textiles at the Students’ Union Awards.
