Sam Putnam
BA Interior Design
Outside of academic studies I am a keen design enthusiast, particularly excited about chair design. Chairs show the timeline of global historic movements through one object with the same intended purpose. To me chairs are scaled architectural structures epitomising the cultural period of their creation. My extensive knowledge and insight into design history motivates me for my future in the interior design industry.
Materials interest me, atmospheres that emerge when texture, quality, and colour complement or contrast each other intrigues me. I anticipate the innovation of sustainable materials that will imperatively shape the future of interior design. As a three-dimensionally minded individual, understanding materiality, lighting, colour, and storytelling combine naturally with my attention to detail. My work ethic is exemplary, with an adaptable, collaborative mindset. Whether contributing to briefs as part of a team or working independently, I approach tasks with equal enthusiasm.
