Website Accessibility Statement
Accessibility statement for NUA Graduate Showcase
This accessibility statement applies to gradfestshowcase.com. This website is run by Norwich University of the Arts and will be live until May 2023. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- The site introduction section (homepage) uses animation effects. This section of the website can be navigated using a keyboard with the ‘Tab’ and ‘arrow’ keys, and the intermittent scrolling animation can be stopped by pressing ‘Escape’.
- The site showcases work as submitted by the individual students (i.e. third parties). Although students have added alt descriptions to their images, most captions or subtitles for video content are automatically generated so may not provide a completely accurate transcription.
- PDF documents are supplied by individual students (i.e. third parties) and may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. See the Feedback and contact information below for information on requesting content in a different format.

Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the exemptions listed below.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
PDF documents are supplied by individual students (i.e. third parties) and may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. See the Feedback and contact information section for information on requesting content in a different format.
Video captions
Most student-supplied videos don’t have captions or transcripts. All video content on the NUA Graduate Showcase is hosted on Vimeo, which provides automatic subtitles. Captions or subtitles for video content are automatically generated so may not provide a completely accurate transcription. This doesn’t meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.1 (audio-only and video-only pre-recorded), 1.2.2 (captions pre-recorded), 1.2.3 (audio description or media alternative pre-recorded) and 1.2.5 (audio description pre-recorded).
Images of Text (1.4.5)
Many pieces of student artwork contain text as part of their design, by nature of showcasing a portfolio of creative work. None of this text is essential to using or navigating the site, and where possible will be described in the images’ alt text.
