Alice Bentley
BA Textile Design
I am a textile designer with a passion for surface print, with a focus in interior contexts. My work explores my interest in heritage and history, imbedding historical inspirations with personal connection. My practice centres around investigating both traditional hand printing techniques and digital methods, provide a merge of design styles.
‘The Lure of the Underground’ is a print collection, visually communicating the nostalgia of vintage London Transport. My project translates the excitement and vibrancy of 1920s Transport of London, pulling inspiration from Art Deco transport posters and moquette history to build the aesthetic of the designs. Through surface pattern, this project explores the heritage of the Underground, resonating with the people who’s memories lie in the evolution of London Transport. This project centres around the merge of rural and urban settings through the view from a train, interpreting journeys across countryside into the city.
