Nella Upton
BA Textile Design
I am a Final Year Textile Design Student, with an interest in alternative sampling, communicating the importance of process within the arts. I aim to create, narrative driven pieces that focus on tactility with the hopes of connecting with viewers through storytelling and touch. My final major project, ‘Cocoon: Preservation and Protection, explores the correlation between art and mental health, analysing how access to creative outlets may facilitate wellbeing. Using cocoons, woodlands and forms found in nature, I have centred my project around experimentation and materiality, learning new skills, which in turn I may share with others in the future.
