Charlotte Dickinson
BA Fine Art
Throughout my Fine Art degree, I have explored themes of the mystical and the whimsical. Predominantly working in acrylic paint and learning how to use imitation gold leaf, I have focused on the legend of the unicorn. To support my work, I have researched historical tapestries and paintings that have helped me develop a strong understanding of unicorn representation. My portrayal of unicorns takes a modern approach; using its image as a vessel to explore the connections and relationships I have with those around me. As well as unicorns, I have explored the surrounding scenery, investigating floral symbolism and the impact of decorative borders.
During my course, I have developed my practice and confidence in my painting skills. As well as proving my ability to time manage and work independently meeting deadlines. I am currently open to pet portrait commissions.
