BA Textile Design
My project SIGNAL /:/ NOISE explores the sensory experience of attending a Radiohead concert through textile design. Spanning large-scale repeat print, weave, ceramics, embellishment, photography and digital manipulation, the project translates sound, rhythm and atmosphere into tactile and immersive textile forms.
Initial mark-making was developed in response to the albums KID A, OK COMPUTER, HAIL TO THE THIEF and AMNESIAC, before evolving through Brusho dye experimentation and layered digital processes. My woven samples explore materiality through the use of wire and bass strings to create structure, tension and distortion, while my digital prints combine saturated colour, binary code and glitch-inspired textures developed from concert photography and expressive surface exploration.
The collection is contextualised within interiors, gallery environments and immersive listening spaces for recording studios.
