Sonia Abul
BA Textile Design
I specialise in biomaterial innovation and sustainable textile practices, exploring sustainability, identity, waste transformation, and emotional healing through material experimentation.
My project, Second Skin: Giving Waste a Second Life, investigates how food waste and natural resources can be transformed into sustainable textile materials while questioning the environmental and ethical issues behind fast fashion.
Growing up in Bangladesh, I witnessed the impact of textile waste and pollution on local communities and the environment, which shaped my passion for responsible design. Through experimental biomaterials and textile processes, I aim to create work that encourages regeneration, awareness, and more sustainable futures within fashion and textiles.
