Hazel Weir
BA Textile Design
I am a constructive textile designer who specialise in fabric manipulation’s and explore many techniques like print, dye and off-loom weave techniques. My FMP project is called ‘beauty of decay’ which explore the inner feeling of brokenness and feeling unloved through imperfection and frail objects.
My initial inspiration is from dried and decayed flowers extracting colours to curate my colour pallet. Inspiration for my fabric choice comes from dirty look: desire and decay fashion collection. I also am looking into oxidation reaction in metal that can be used as a natural dye process. My last explore human growth and decay that inspired by the television show called the last of us and the costume designer Cynthia Ann Summers.
