Daisy Robson-Jones
BA Textile Design
My name is Daisy and I am an aspiring textile repair specialist with a passion for restoring the connection we have to our clothing through mending practices.
Through research I have acquired an understanding into the impact and global historical practice of textiles repair, and to what extent it can be beneficial for mental wellbeing and the environment. I have a strong interest in the preservation and redevelopment of existing textiles in order to elevate and prolong their lifespans. Sustainability has always been prevalent within my work ethic, and is at the forefront of my final major project, in which I have centred my practice on the upcycling and reparation of pre-loved textiles through traditional and contemporary visible mending practices, especially Japanese techniques.
Accompanying this, I have a real love and joy for printmaking processes, especially for screen and lino printing, where I have a keen eye for detail. I often incorporate my textile repairs with my prints.
