My approach to design is guided by human behaviour and by what we instinctively do within a space. I believe that everyone deserves to play and view life playfully, and that our built environment influences our emotions. This has resulted in me having an interest in urban spaces and how they can be made more playful for adults as well as children.
My final project, Playhill, explores this idea, investigating how we can encourage adults to be more playful through interaction and a greater awareness of our surroundings. With this, I have explored the concept of “gamification”, using recognisable features of board games to guide the spatial design, alongside human behaviour.
I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring various communication techniques, including both digital and hand-drawn images and collages, alongside model making.
