Ellie Hurlimann is interested in how nostalgic media and childhood memories can impact a person in adulthood. Combining her love of animation from the 70s and 80s such as Button Moon, Bagpuss and The Flumps as well as character design and world-building; Ellie has created an extensive cast of characters.

Ellie brings this world to life through developing dolls from drawings to 3D works. The imperfect nature of their stuffed, textile bodies and painted, foam heads accentuate their melancholic dispositions. In recent works, she has been experimenting with the scale of her dolls and its ability to create an unnerving juxtaposition between comfort and uncanniness.
