Jess Parker
BA Textile Design
An award-winning textile designer with a vibrant creative background and a passion for print, pattern and colour, with technical drawing and traditional hand screen printing at the heart of my practice. My work explores a range of concepts based around interesting narratives and storytelling, presenting itself through traditionally printed surface textiles. With particular attention to hand-drawn detailed motifs and thoughtful colour exploration, my collections aim to inspire and evoke thoughts of the past, present and future.
Treasure the Thoughts aims to preserve and reawaken nostalgia of 1970s and 80s homes. It captures the warmth and familiarity of these decades. Taking inspiration from retro objects, transforming them into maximalist textiles and reconnecting with the atmosphere of the past. Each colour within the collection has its own name and meaning, referencing a time, place or moment that means something to each one of us. Enabling storytelling though pattern, and colour.
